Your images and palettes stay yours

We claim no rights over the images you open or the palettes you make. Use them for anything, commercial work included, with no credit required. A palette is a list of colour values, and nobody owns those.

The reading happens on your own machine, but a thumbnail leaves your device for the naming. Privacy sets out what goes and where. So open images you have lawful access to, and think before you send someone else’s private photograph through a third party’s model. A palette read from a photograph says nothing about your right to use that photograph.

Palette names and descriptions

Names and descriptions help describe a palette’s appearance. They include interpretation and do not determine whether a colour combination is suitable for your design. Use the contrast results to check specific colour pairs.

What the colours and the contrast figures mean

The colours are read from the image data as your browser decodes it, which makes a palette a faithful reading of that file rather than a measurement of whatever was photographed. Take the values into your design and build on them. Just don’t treat a hex as a colour match: profiles, ink and paper decide that, so convert and proof a print job the way you always would.

The contrast figures are real WCAG ratios, calculated the way the specification sets out, and the AA and AAA labels mean what they say about the two colours being compared. What they cannot tell you is whether your interface passes. That depends on type size and weight, on opacity, and on whatever sits behind the colour. Use the figures to choose between palettes, then test the screen you actually shipped.

Keeping your own copies

Your library is in this browser’s local storage. Clearing your browser data deletes it and we cannot get it back. There is no server-side copy, by design. Use Back up if a palette matters to you. A shared link carries the palette inside the link itself: anyone with it can open it, you cannot recall it, and we hold no record of it to delete.

Availability and responsibility

Atmos Gallery is free to use. We cannot guarantee that it will always be available or work without errors. We may change or discontinue the service.

Back up your Library to keep a separate copy of your saved palettes.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited. When we update these terms, we update the date at the top of this page.
